“Canary in a Coal Mine”
A few years ago I wrote a short story (short for me, in any case, around 8K words) for Matthew Wayne Selznick’s The Sovereign Era: Year One anthology. It was...
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Amanda Cales and Justin Macumber from the excellent Dead Robot’s Society podcast, and they agreed to let me post the audio in my feed. I’ve known Amanda since our days posting in the I Should be Writing forums, so the interview was fun and I think it turned out well. If you like this interview and are interested in writing, head over to DRS and subscribe!
Joe Mieczkowski over at On the Pod.net posted the audio from the panel I did with Mur Lafferty and Elisa Lorello at Quail Ridge Books on May 17th. Please visit http://onthepod.net for more information on this great podcast. I’ll post a link to the video from this event when it becomes available.

I’ve been having fun with sound effects. I hope you like it. Of course this causes me to spend more time producing each episode. To give you an idea, this episode took 19 hours to produce:
recording – 1.5 hours
editing my audio – 8 hours
editing and splicing in Tee and MWS’s audio – 3 hours
foley work (including searching for certain effects I didn’t have) – 4.5 hours
mixing down, listening for errors, uploading, etc. – 2 hours
I’m not whining about time spent. I love doing this. I just wonder sometimes what possessed me to do this as an audio drama instead of as a straight read.
